Broadcaster Kim Kyung-hwa expressed dissatisfaction over the suspension of her children's school meals due to a sinkhole accident and later apologized after facing criticism.
On the 29th, Kim Kyung-hwa posted an apology on her social media, stating, "I am sorry, I bow my head in apology." She continued, "I was short-sighted in my thinking," and added, "I failed to properly see other situations overshadowed by my position. That is my shortcoming."
Kim Kyung-hwa expressed regret for her "lack of prudence" in her actions, saying, "I need to mature more, but I am still lacking."
She also conveyed her apologies to anyone who may have been hurt or affected by her post, as well as to the school that is working hard to resolve the situation, stating, "Once again, I bow my head in apology."
The day before, Kim Kyung-hwa had posted a photo and message saying, "This is the school meal our second child had. It’s not a snack. It’s the meal served during lunchtime."
The published photo showed a tray containing bread, milk, and cup fruits as alternative meals. Kim Kyung-hwa wrote, "There was a major accident near the school recently, resulting in unfortunate casualties, and due to safety issues in the area (the residential area has gas supply), the school, being a large facility, has had its gas supply suspended until safety is secured."
She continued, "For that reason, the children's lunch and dinner meals have been suspended since the accident, and instead, these non-cooked meals are being provided," expressing her dissatisfaction with the meals.
Kim Kyung-hwa also mentioned, "The teachers are having warm meals delivered. A teacher's opinion that students and teachers should be treated equally was dismissed," seemingly comparing students and staff.
Kim Kyung-hwa lamented, "I am very upset about this situation," strongly voicing her concerns about her children's school meals.
The public's reaction to Kim Kyung-hwa's post was cold. Netizens commented, "A typical malicious complaint parent," "Instead of writing this, pack a lunch for them. Don’t criticize workers who pay for their own meals," and "I am concerned that this kind of educational perspective may be related to children's disruptive behavior and distorted thinking."
As negative reactions continued, Kim Kyung-hwa made her social media account private.
