On the 4th, SM announced, "We inform you that the exclusive contracts with Wendy and Yeri have ended." The other members of Red Velvet, Irene, Seulgi, and Joy, have already completed their contract renewals.
SM continued, "The time spent with Wendy and Yeri, who have been active in various fields as both group members and solo artists since their debut with Red Velvet, has been a great happiness for us," and added, "We will cherish all the moments we have built together and sincerely support Wendy and Yeri in their new beginnings."
Additionally, "Wendy and Yeri are scheduled to continue their group activities as members of Red Velvet with us," and they requested, "Please look forward to the dazzling journey of Red Velvet that will continue to unfold."
Debuting in 2014, Red Velvet has numerous hit songs including "Happiness," "Ice Cream Cake," "Red Flavor," "Psycho," "Feel My Rhythm," "Queendom," and "Cosmic."
Wendy serves as the main vocalist, while the youngest member Yeri is active as both a singer and an actress.
