'Treasure Island' has once again broken its own highest viewership record.
The 14th episode of SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'Treasure Island' (written by Lee Myung-hee / directed by Jin Chang-kyu / produced by Studio S, A2Z Entertainment, Purmir Workshop), which aired on the 4th, recorded 14% in the metropolitan area and 13.4% nationwide, setting a new record for itself. The peak viewership soared to an impressive 15.7%, breaking through the elusive 15% barrier.
In this episode, Yeom Jang-seon (played by Heo Joon-ho) puts Seo Dong-joo (Park Hyung-sik) and Heo Il-do (Lee Hae-young) in a crisis as they finally realize they are father and son. The scene of the collapsed Heo Il-do and the shocked Seo Dong-joo reveals the tragic fate of these two.
Previously, Heo Il-do had decided to kill Seo Dong-joo with a gun he received from Yeom Jang-seon and called him out. However, before meeting Heo Il-do, Seo Dong-joo learned the shocking truth that Heo Il-do is his biological father. The villain Yeom Jang-seon, anticipating the cruel reunion between Seo Dong-joo and Heo Il-do, even sent a DNA test result to Seo Dong-joo.
Seo Dong-joo provocatively aimed a gun at his own head, saying, "Hurry up and shoot me. Father." Yeom Jang-seon, who was watching the entire situation, finally told Heo Il-do that Seo Dong-joo is his biological son. Heo Il-do was left in disbelief. At that moment, Heo Il-do's other son, Heo Tae-yoon (Yoon Sang-hyun), appeared, bringing the situation to a temporary resolution. In the end, Yeom Jang-seon once again failed to kill Seo Dong-joo.
Heo Il-do fell into a pit of pain due to the shocking truth. Seo Dong-joo, seeing Heo Il-do say, "Even if I knew you were my son, I would have killed you," was overwhelmed with complex emotions. The two exchanged words that were hard to believe as father and son, inflicting wounds on each other, evoking a sense of sadness.
Afterward, Heo Il-do announced his counterattack against Yeom Jang-seon. It was the first time he stood up to Yeom Jang-seon after succumbing to him during his college years. Heo Il-do warned Yeom Jang-seon, "How much pleasure did you feel every time you incited a father to kill his son? It's late, but I will erase the devil named Yeom Jang-seon from my life."
In response, Yeom Jang-seon provoked Cha Gang-cheon (Woo Hyun), the chairman of Daesan Group. He revealed that he had lost 2 trillion won to Seo Dong-joo and that Seo Dong-joo and Heo Il-do were father and son. Cha Gang-cheon, who had just brought an illegitimate child into the Daesan family, was engulfed in anxiety that he might lose Daesan Group to the two.
Ultimately, Cha Gang-cheon summoned Seo Dong-joo and Heo Il-do to one place and set the stage, sending Jo Yang-chun (Kim Gi-mu) there. Unaware of this, Seo Dong-joo and Heo Il-do opened up for the first time. Despite their inability to get close, the conversation between the blood-related father and son continued, but Jo Yang-chun attacked Seo Dong-joo and Heo Il-do.
In the sudden brawl, Heo Il-do saved Seo Dong-joo and fell from the second floor with Jo Yang-chun. The episode ended with Seo Dong-joo in shock as he witnessed this. The ending left Seo Dong-joo's desire for revenge against the absolute evil Yeom Jang-seon boiling fiercely.
