Red Velvet's Wendy has shared her feelings about leaving SM Entertainment.
On the 4th, Wendy announced through the fan communication platform Bubble, "I have concluded my exclusive contract with SM Entertainment (hereafter SM), which has been with me for a long time and has helped shape who I am today, and I am preparing for a new challenge in a different environment."
She expressed, "I sincerely thank the SM family for allowing me to meet the world and my fans as Red Velvet. I believe that I am who I am today thanks to the many support and consideration I received during this time," and added, "Above all, to the fans who have always watched over me with warm support and love, every moment spent with you was truly precious, and with that strength, I was able to take one step forward no matter what happened."
She continued, "This decision came after a long period of contemplation, and I found the courage to want to take on new challenges in a broader world," and said, "I want to sincerely thank my beloved members who supported this choice of mine."
She expressed gratitude, saying, "I feel that with the members who will always be there to support me, I can move forward more firmly towards the future."
In particular, she emphasized, "For me, Red Velvet is still the most precious existence," and stated, "I will continue to engage in activities as Red Velvet's Wendy and will do my best to meet my fans with a new side of Wendy."
On the 4th, SM announced, "We inform you that Wendy and Yeri's exclusive contracts have ended," and added, "Wendy and Yeri will continue to participate in group activities as members of Red Velvet, and we ask for your continued expectations for the dazzling journey of Red Velvet that will unfold."
Wendy debuted as part of Red Velvet in 2014 and gained immense popularity with hit songs such as "Happiness," "Ice Cream Cake," "Red Flavor," "Psycho," and "Feel My Rhythm."
