It has been 8 years since the late actress Kim Young-ae passed away.

She died on April 9, 2017, due to complications from pancreatic cancer, at the age of 66.

Having undergone surgery for pancreatic cancer in 2012 and receiving a clean bill of health, she continued her active career, appearing in films such as 'The Attorney', 'Cart', and 'Special Investigation: Letters from Death Row'.

However, while filming the KBS2 weekend drama 'The Gentlemen of the Moonlight Clothing Store', her pancreatic cancer recurred, and despite her deteriorating health, she showed remarkable dedication by not revealing this fact and focusing on the filming. Unfortunately, this drama became her last work.

Throughout the filming of 'The Gentlemen of the Moonlight Clothing Store', she was hospitalized due to her declining health, but she demonstrated her determination by obtaining a leave pass to attend the recording site for four months until the final shoot. Although the hospital advised her to stop acting immediately, the more they urged her, the more she was determined to commit to her work, according to reports.

The late actress, who debuted as a talent in MBC's 3rd recruitment in 1971, began her career with the MBC drama 'Chief of Investigation' and showcased her presence in over 100 works across dramas and films for 46 years. She was especially known as the 'Nation's Mother' for her touching maternal performances.
