Actor Jin Tae-hyun expressed his thoughts on the privileges of celebrities.
On the 11th, Jin Tae-hyun wrote on his Instagram account, “It has been exactly 2 years since I started running marathons professionally. I have been working hard to create something from nothing. Now, I have added an amazing record of 3 hours and 19 minutes based on my standards.”
He mentioned, “This afternoon, I was out for local filming and family trips, and there were a lot of packages piled up in front of my house. The organizers of the Gunsan Saemangeum Marathon sent me an unexpected gift and a touching letter,” sharing the gifts and letter he received from the marathon organizers.
Jin Tae-hyun also stated, “My wife and I do not participate in competitions for free just because we are celebrities or famous people, except for officially invited events with a reason.”
He explained, “I compete in click battles with other marathoners, applying and being accepted or rejected, and I fully enjoy the entire process from applying for the marathon to finishing on the day of the event. I had already applied and paid for the Daegu Marathon, where we filmed ‘Same Bed, Different Dreams’.”
He added, “Everyone preparing for the event works very hard. Whether the operation is good or bad, the amount of manpower and effort is indescribable. It feels really shameful to just step on the path of such efforts.”
In conclusion, Jin Tae-hyun emphasized, “Sometimes, there are many instances where we receive privileges just because we are celebrities. However, if such things become too natural, people tend to forget the importance of humility.”
He continued, “I think the letter from the Gunsan Sports Council is encouragement for us as a couple,” and added, “In response to the question in the letter, ‘Will you come again next year?’, I will say this: If there is no filming that day, we will apply again and stand beautifully at that starting line. Thank you.”
Jin Tae-hyun and Park Si-eun got married in 2015. The couple announced their pregnancy in early 2022, but unfortunately shared the news of a stillbirth just 20 days before the expected delivery in August of that year.
