The Boyz's Sunwoo has apologized amid a 'character controversy', and his agency has announced that they have filed a lawsuit against malicious commenters.

On the 15th, Sunwoo's agency, One Hundred, informed through official SNS and other channels about the legal proceedings regarding the dissemination of false information and malicious posts related to The Boyz member Sunwoo.

The agency stated, “We have collected evidence of malicious posts and comments on platforms such as X, DC Inside, and Theku through reports from fans and our own monitoring. Based on this, we submitted a complaint to the Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul on the 15th, requesting an investigation for charges of defamation, insult, and dissemination of false information.”

They continued, “Even after this announcement, we will continue to collect and review malicious posts about our artists and members, and we plan to proceed with legal actions swiftly without any leniency or negotiations,” adding, “We appreciate the continued interest and cooperation from our fans, and we will do our best to protect our artists in the future.”

Previously, Sunwoo was embroiled in a 'character controversy' due to a video that surfaced on a social media platform (SNS). The video, titled 'Idols Shouting and the Bodyguard Running', shows a bodyguard picking up the AirPods that Sunwoo dropped.

The issue arose when Sunwoo, realizing he had dropped his wireless earphones while trying to get into an elevator, only shouted “My AirPods!” without showing any intention to pick them up himself. A bodyguard approached him and handed him the AirPods, and Sunwoo received them with one hand without expressing any gratitude, leading to a debate over his manners and ultimately resulting in the character controversy.

In response, actress Nana, a former member of After School, commented, “He needs to be scolded,” and “You can tell a lot from one action,” pointing out Sunwoo's behavior.

Sunwoo explained, “I was confused and didn’t know what had fallen, and when I realized it was my AirPods, I looked for them and said ‘My AirPods’,” adding, “I received them without bowing my head and said ‘Thank you’.” As the cold atmosphere continued, he also made emotional remarks such as “Am I crazy?” “This is ridiculous,” “Ugh, gross!” “I want to throw up,” and “This is frustrating.”

He expressed his frustration, saying, “With all the fans in front of me, would I shout at the bodyguard to pick up my AirPods? It’s absurd. I tried to reflect on how I appeared, but to receive such harsh comments from people who cross the line over a few seconds of video... people are really scary.”

As public sentiment worsened, Sunwoo apologized, saying, “To those who criticized my negligence and immaturity, and to those who were hurt by my actions, as well as to everyone around me who loves me, I want to convey my sincere apologies.” He added, “I sincerely apologize to everyone who felt discomfort and hurt due to my immature responses. And I am very sorry to the fans who love me.”
