Famous Japanese idol-turned-actress Itagaki Mizuki was found dead in Tokyo three months after going missing. She was 25 years old.
On the 17th, the deceased's family posted on social media, “We regret to inform you that Itagaki Mizuki has passed away in an unfortunate accident.”
They continued, “She had been missing since the end of January due to a mental illness she had been suffering from since last year. We had been searching with the cooperation of the police and friends, but we recently received notification from the police that she was found dead in Tokyo.”
The family expressed, “We sincerely apologize for the late notice to her fans,” adding, “Itagaki Mizuki always wanted to bring joy to everyone through her entertainment activities. We believe she must have felt wronged to end her life while preparing for a return to her activities. We feel it is not her intention to not report to the fans and those involved who supported her during her life.”
Finally, the family said, “We would appreciate it if you could warmly remember her past activities,” and expressed their gratitude, saying, “Thank you deeply for your support during this time.”
Itagaki Mizuki debuted in 2014 as a member of the boy group M!LK. She began her acting career with the film 'Yamikin Ushijima Part 2' in 2014, balancing her idol activities with acting, and left the group in 2020 to focus on her acting career.
She appeared in films such as 'Clover', 'Solomon's Perjury', and 'Hibiki', as well as dramas like 'Island Village Teacher', 'Village Doctor Jumbo', 'I Will Break the Alibi', 'The Giraffe is Coming', and 'Honest Real Estate'. In 2015, she won the Best New Actor Award at the 25th Japan Film Critics Awards for 'Solomon's Perjury', recognizing her acting skills.
