Kim Hee-ra (78), a veteran actor who once thrived as an action star, has become a monk.
On the MBN program 'Special Report World' aired on the 24th, Kim shared various stories, including the reasons for leaving the secular world and his current situation.
Kim Hee-ra was a pioneer action star in the 1970s and 1980s, actively working as an actor for 40 years and appearing in over 500 films. He has even undergone a head-shaving ceremony and received the Dharma name 'Beopgi'.
When comedian Yoon Seong-ho, who is active as 'New Jin Sunim', asked at a Buddhist fair if he had left the secular world, Kim replied, "March 23."
He was seen at home in monk's robes, preparing to leave while erasing traces of the secular world. Kim's wife calmly stated, "We are gradually reducing our belongings. There was a plan. I was going to become a monk."

Kim Hee-ra lost all his wealth due to a series of business failures in the past. While his wife and children went to the United States, he committed infidelity. After wandering in a drunken state, he collapsed from a stroke, and his wife rushed to care for him. Kim decided to become a monk to repent for his past mistakes.
He reflected on his past, saying, "I am sorry as a husband. I am repenting for all the sins I have committed until now."
After 56 years of a glamorous entertainment career, he had a lot of baggage to sort out. His wife showed the process of organizing their belongings, saying, "Since he has become a monk, there is no need to wear these clothes. Just a couple of pieces, just in case."
Meanwhile, Kim Hee-ra's father was actor Kim Seung-ho (1918-1968). His second son, Geum-seong (45, Kim Gi-joo), is also active as an actor.
