Yulhee (27), a former member of the girl group 'LABOUM', opened up about the hurtful comments she faced after her divorce.
On the 26th, the MBN special program commemorating its 30th anniversary, 'You Have to Run to Live', featured the 'Running Crew' of 16 members who completed a '5km marathon test' for the first time, gathering at their accommodation and sharing their thoughts openly, which brought them closer together.
Upon arriving at the serene Hanok accommodation, the 'Running Crew' checked their rooms with their character names and greeted their roommates. Among them, 'Divorce Lawyer's Declaration of Semi-Divorce' Yang So-young, 'I Want to Stop Crying' Son Jung-eun, and 'My Name is Yulhee' Yulhee became roommates and shared their innermost feelings.
Yang So-young started by saying, "I'm contemplating semi-divorce, and if I do, I'm worried about how to explain it to people."
In response, Son Jung-eun, who has experience with divorce, said, "I also thought a lot about how to talk about it. I didn't say anything for four years. I didn't even tell my close announcer friends," adding, "During interviews, I would suddenly start crying." She then remarked, "Yulhee, it's really amazing that you don't cry while sharing your painful story."
Yulhee replied, "There are times when I want to cry, but the tears just won't come out, and it’s hard."
She shared, "After the divorce, I couldn't work for almost a year. For a year, I was seen as a mother who abandoned her children. Other negative comments were okay, but the frame of being a mother who abandoned her children was placed on me. That alone..." and recalled the painful moment, saying, "I have never abandoned my children."
Later, in an interview with the production team, Yulhee expressed, "I miss my children every day. I think of them even when I'm running the marathon," which moved the viewers.
She confessed, "I recently attended my eldest son's entrance ceremony, and when I told him, 'Mom has to run 42km,' he said, 'Should I go with you? I want to run with you too.' I want to see them all day long."
