The movie 'Harbin' has been recording an audience of 30,000 to 40,000 throughout the weekdays, while the ticket sales for Song Hye-kyo's starring film 'The Black Nuns' are on the rise.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system on the 17th, 'Harbin' (directed by Woo Min-ho) attracted 31,286 viewers the previous day, maintaining its box office throne. The cumulative audience count is 4,313,484.
CJ ENM announced a break-even point of about 6.5 million before the release, but unusually lowered it to 5.8 million after applying overseas sales and additional rights contracts midway through, just a month after its release. Nevertheless, the once-strong box office momentum has not shown signs of recovery.
As new films prepare for the Lunar New Year holiday, Song Hye-kyo's 'The Black Nuns' is making a mark, leading in ticket reservations. 'Harbin', which has a long way to go and little time, seems to be getting more anxious.
In second place is 'Firefighters' (directed by Kwak Kyung-taek). On the same day, it attracted 10,056 viewers, with a cumulative audience of 3,746,419. It has already surpassed the break-even point (250,000) and is enjoying a long run.
In third place is 'Fairy Tale but Rated R' (directed by Lee Jong-seok), which has risen. It recorded 6,341 viewers, with a cumulative audience of 129,952.
'Substance', which awarded Hollywood star Demi Moore her first Golden Globe for Best Actress, has climbed to fourth place. It's an astonishing comeback.
Currently, the real-time reservation rate shows Song Hye-kyo's 'The Black Nuns' leading with 24.3%. In second place is 'Harbin' (11.9%), and in third is 'Secret That Cannot Be Told' starring Do Kyung-soo and Won Jin-ah (11.6%), which is a close competition. Following them is 'Hitman 2' (10.4%).
