Director Bong Joon-ho's new film 'Mickey 17' has topped the box office on its opening day.

According to the integrated computer network of the Korean Film Council, 'Mickey 17' attracted 248,056 viewers on its opening day, February 28, securing the number one spot at the box office with overwhelming figures.

This surpasses the opening scores of other box office hits in the first half of 2025, including 'The Black Nuns' (163,727), 'Captain America: Brave New World' (123,237), and 'Hitman 2' (100,621), making it the highest opening score for a theatrical release this year.

Moreover, it marks a significant start to its box office success, exceeding the opening day audience number (203,813) of 'The Spring of Seoul', which has recorded a total of 13,128,419 viewers, ranking it ninth in all-time box office history.

Additionally, it has surpassed the opening scores of Robert Pattinson's popular films in Korea, 'The Batman' (192,854) and 'Tenet' (137,740), raising expectations that it will become one of Robert Pattinson's biggest domestic hits.

Meanwhile, 'Mickey 17' tells the unpredictable story of 'Mickey', a disposable (expendable) sent into dangerous situations, who faces his 17th death crisis, leading to the printing of 'Mickey 18' under the assumption that he has died.
