Singer Im Chang-jung's side has expressed their position regarding the allegations of 'eating and running' on concert guarantees.
On the 14th, Mbox Entertainment (hereafter Mbox) refuted claims made by concert planning company A regarding unpaid concert guarantees for Im Chang-jung, stating, "The claims made by A are not true."
Mbox stated, "The unreturned guarantee mentioned by A includes not only the guarantees for the remaining concerts that could not be held due to the incident at that time but also the total costs including A's damages (venue cancellation fees, various promotional expenses), delayed interest, future expected profits, and the costs for producing a remake album (amount deducted upon album release), so the actual amount of debt is different from what is claimed."
They continued, "We have repaid part of the damages, and due to the loss of repayment ability at that time, we drafted an agreement at A's request, actively cooperating with all legal demands and faithfully fulfilling our repayment obligations by pre-registering the company's owned building to A." They added, "We have communicated several times about the clear amount of damages and repayment plans through the company until recently."
Mbox stated, "We will support Im Chang-jung, who has gone through a difficult time for a long period, not only in his activities as an artist but also in fulfilling all obligations given to him," and added, "We earnestly request that baseless speculation and conjectural reports be refrained from."
Earlier, on the 13th, concert planning company A claimed that they paid Im Chang-jung a concert guarantee of about 1 billion won, but he did not return it even after the concert was canceled due to stock manipulation allegations, leading to controversy.
