Izna, formed through the Mnet audition program 'I-LAND 2', is making their first comeback. They are determined to show a different emotion through their new digital single 'SIGN', compared to their debut title track 'IZNA'.
Recently, Izna (Izna, My, Bang Ji-min, Coco, Yu Sa-rang, Choi Jeong-eun, Jeong Se-bi) met with Maeil Business Star Today at a cafe in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, and they were filled with excitement ahead of their comeback. The members expressed, "We are so happy to be making a comeback after 4 months," and added, "We prepared so hard that we didn't even realize how time flew by. We want to stand on stage and meet our fans as soon as possible," smiling brightly.
When asked if the feeling is different from their debut, Coco replied, "During our debut, we met fans and performed without knowing anything. There were times when I couldn't find the camera or manage my expressions on music shows, but for this comeback, I prepared hard because I want to do it perfectly."
One regret is that they will be performing as a 6-member group without Yoon Ji-yoon. Yoon Ji-yoon had temporarily halted her activities in February due to health issues.
My stated, "The decision was made with Yoon Ji-yoon's health as the top priority," and added, "Although she won't be on stage with us this time, we are always together in spirit. We talked a lot among ourselves to make sure her absence is not felt. We hope she recovers quickly and returns."
Izna's digital single 'SIGN', which will be released on the 31st at 6 PM, is a love song that sings about the courage and certainty to convey love with a clear signal. Instead of waiting for love, Izna plans to evoke excitement in listeners by confidently expressing their emotions by sending signals themselves.
Recalling the first time she heard 'SIGN', Yu Sa-rang said, "I was surprised because it felt different from our debut song, but at the same time, I thought it was a song that only Izna could produce. Since we debuted through a survival show, each member has different stories and charms. I felt a rise in emotions, and the lyrics have a clear structure, so I think we can express it well in our own color."
The point to watch for in the 'SIGN' stage is 'emotional expression'. Choi Jeong-eun said, "I want to show a stage that emotionally overwhelms the audience, so I prepared hard for that part. Also, there are many addictive elements in the performance, so I hope you pay attention to that."
Izna made a remarkable achievement by entering the top 10 of the iTunes Top Album chart in 14 countries worldwide with their first mini-album 'N/A' right after their debut in November last year. They were also selected as one of the '8 K-Pop rookies to watch this year' by Grammy.com and showcased their presence at various award ceremonies such as the 'MAMA AWARDS', 'SBS Gayo Daejeon', 'MBC Gayo Daejeon', and 'Golden Disc Awards'.
When asked about the most memorable moment since their debut, My smiled and said, "It was the moment we performed our debut title track at the 'MAMA AWARDS'. It was such an honor to stand on a stage that I had only seen from the audience. The light sticks that fans were holding looked like stars, and that is the most memorable part for me."
