"I think I have pushed my family too much. I like the way things are now. I hope they stay healthy and with me for a long time."
For trot singer Park Seo-jin, family holds a particularly dear place in his heart. Although he is the son of the house, he also serves as a broad shadow that encompasses his family.
On the 3rd, Maeil Business Star Today met with Park Seo-jin (30) at 'Switch22' located in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, to discuss his feelings about winning 'Current King of Singers 2' and his recent updates.
Park Seo-jin won the MBN competition program 'Current King of Singers 2', which ended in February. After surpassing numerous active singers to claim the top spot, the first thing that came to his mind was his fans and family.
Park Seo-jin said, "My parents spend more money than I do. They seem to enjoy giving rice cakes to people around them and buying coffee," and added, "I'm so happy that they were so pleased after my victory."
Currently, Park Seo-jin is sharing his daily life with his family on the KBS2 entertainment program 'Men Who Cook 2'. He has become a source of hope and light for his family, who have gone through difficult times. However, he also feels a sense of regret when he looks at them.
He expressed, "I think I have pushed my family a lot. Especially since my mother is a people person, she easily gives her affection, which has led to some unfortunate experiences. Because of that, I often scolded and pressured them, and I feel sorry about it," conveying his troubled feelings.
He continued, "Actually, I have no material desires. I didn't start music to make money; I started because I love singing. Standing on stage is exciting and makes me happy. I don't think I can quit being a singer," and added, "My family loves my activities so much that I especially can't quit. They always support me and say they're sorry for not being able to help."
Park Seo-jin also won the Rookie Award at the KBS 'Entertainment Awards' last year for 'Men Who Cook 2'. "The program has become a turning point in my life. When will a trot singer ever receive a rookie award in entertainment? It was so great, and I promise to show fun and interesting sides in the future," he vowed.
Following the 'Current King of Singers 2' concert scheduled for the 18th to 20th, Park Seo-jin plans to focus on activities for the 'Korea-Japan King of Singers Competition'.
