Singer Kim Tae-yeon mentioned her major in traditional Korean music, pansori.
On the afternoon of the 9th, a showcase was held at Ilji Art Hall in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, to celebrate the release of Kim Tae-yeon's first full-length album, 'Excitement'. The venue was filled with reporters eager to see Kim Tae-yeon. She released her new album at noon that day. The event was hosted by broadcaster Kim Sung-joo, drawing attention.
Having learned pansori in her childhood, Kim Tae-yeon entered the National Traditional Arts Middle School's pansori department this year to enhance her expertise.
On that day, when asked whether her pansori major helps in trot competitions, Kim Tae-yeon responded, "I used to have a strong traditional music influence. Now, I am trying to reduce that influence. Personally, I think if I rely solely on traditional music, the chances of failing in trot competitions are high," and added, "I need to maintain the trot feel while minimizing the traditional music influence."
She also mentioned, "I believe that because I learned pansori, I can also digest trot well. Learning pansori again seems to enrich my emotions. I feel like I understand the songs better."
Kim Tae-yeon's first full-length album, 'Excitement', includes a total of 11 tracks, featuring double title songs 'Encore' and 'The River of Time'. It is expected to showcase her strengthened vocals and rich musical colors. The album was released at noon that day.
Kim Tae-yeon made a strong impression through TV Chosun's 'Miss Trot 2' in 2021. She showcased her stage presence with a powerful voice that belied her age. Despite her cute appearance, she delivered sharp and immersive performances on stage, earning her the nickname 'Baby Tiger' for her impressive activities at the time.
