Lee Ha-neul (real name Lee Geun-bae, 54), a member of the hip-hop group DJ DOC, has been sent to the prosecutors for defaming singer Jubi Train and the head of a talent agency.
The Mapo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 18th that Lee Ha-neul was sent to the prosecutors on the 7th without detention on charges of defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act.
Lee Ha-neul is accused of spreading false information, claiming through YouTube that the head of Jubi Train (real name Joo Hyun-woo, 46), who has been in a legal dispute with him, is a criminal.
The agency head also announced the news of Lee Ha-neul's prosecution on his SNS on the 16th. He stated, “Lee Ha-neul created the false fact that I am a ‘habitual drug offender’ to shift his criminal charges onto others and indiscriminately spread it among industry insiders and on SNS. Ultimately, all of Lee Ha-neul's criminal charges have been acknowledged and he has been sent to the prosecutors.”
In response, Lee Ha-neul's side is reportedly planning to file a counter-suit for defamation and spreading false information.
Last year, Jubi Train's side revealed that they had filed a defamation lawsuit against Lee Ha-neul. They claimed, “Lee Ha-neul falsely accused Jubi Train and Mr. Lee of drug offenses, leading to an unjust dismissal.”
In response, Funkytown, Lee Ha-neul's agency, claimed, “Lee Ha-neul proposed to work together to help Jubi Train, but Jubi Train and Mr. Lee falsely recorded the payment sources for filming costs and committed personal crimes.”
